Short Bio

David Sargent Wood is the Chief Quantitative Strategist and Co-Chief Technology Officer at Brooklyn Investment Group (BKLN). He leads the development of cutting-edge financial technology systems while managing the portfolio management team and overseeing day-to-day systematic investment management processes.

His work spans the conception, implementation, and enhancement of sophisticated algorithmic strategies and advanced risk analytics across the full range of investment services, including machine learning-driven portfolio construction models, computational portfolio optimization, and cloud-based valuation analytics platforms. At Brooklyn, he is responsible for architecting the firm’s technological infrastructure, implementing high-performance computing solutions, and driving innovation in quantitative finance.

Before joining Brooklyn in 2022, David held the position of Head of Quantitative Strategies at Hum Capital, where he led systematic underwriting in capital market syndication and principal investments. His background also includes a role as a quantitative researcher with Credit Suisse’s Quantitative Investment Strategies group (QIS), focusing on systematic multi-asset strategies. Moreover, he co-owned a Chicago-based algorithmic trading boutique, with a specialization in oil futures.

David’s academic background includes a Ph.D. in Econometrics, an M.B.A., and an A.B. in Economics with Honors, all obtained from the University of Chicago. His decade-long academic journey at the University of Chicago encompasses completing Ph.D. cores in economics and mathematics, as well as Ph.D. sequences in Quantum Field Theory and String Theory in the physics department.
